Featured along the right shoreline is the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center with the Wisconsin State Capitol to its left. At the far left is the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Camp Randall Stadium. Founded by James Duane Doty in 1836 in the newly created Territory of Wisconsin, Madison was named after President James Madison. Governmental operations and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, account for much of the city’s prosperity. Louisville was named for King Louis XVI of France in appreciation for his assistance during the revolutionary war. This scenic city was founded by George Rogers Clark in 1778.
